Council of Europe holds the 70th CAHAMA meeting in Strasbourg to coordinate European positions ahead of WADA Executive Committee in Baku
Strasbourg, France | 4–5 March 2026 — The Council of Europe convened the 70th meeting of the Ad Hoc European Committee for the World Anti-Doping Agency (CAHAMA) in Strasbourg, bringing together European public authorities to coordinate policy positions and governance priorities within the global anti-doping system.
Structure of the meeting: in-camera and open sessions, including dialogue with WADA
The agenda was organised across in-camera and open sessions. The meeting included a dedicated exchange with WADA focused on the agenda items for the upcoming WADA Executive Committee meeting (17 March 2026, Baku, Azerbaijan), followed by in-camera work to shape CAHAMA positions and drafting instructions.
Preparing for WADA Executive Committee (Baku, 17 March 2026)
A central objective of the meeting was to support coherent European input ahead of the WADA Executive Committee meeting in Baku, including consideration of selected governance and policy items to be discussed at that session.
CAHAMA Chair and Vice-Chair elections
In line with Council of Europe procedures, CAHAMA held elections for the Chair and Vice-Chair at its first meeting of the calendar year. During the meeting, Amandine Carton (France) was elected Chair of CAHAMA, and Kaarel Nestor (Estonia) was elected Vice-Chair.
Mandate and coordination role
CAHAMA serves as the Council of Europe’s coordination forum for European public authorities’ engagement with WADA and may appoint rapporteurs on mainstreamed perspectives, including a Gender Equality Rapporteur, as part of its working methods and coordination arrangements.
