WADA opens call for Independent Review Experts under the 2027 Code
The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) has opened a call for candidates to serve as Independent Review Experts under the 2027 World Anti-Doping Code.
The new mechanism will apply in exceptional cases where an Anti-Doping Organization is considering not proceeding with normal results management following an Adverse Analytical Finding. WADA is seeking to appoint a Primary Independent Review Expert and a Backup Independent Review Expert, with both expected to take office on 1 January 2027.
According to WADA, the experts will review relevant case files and issue written opinions on whether a departure from the normal results management process is justified in the circumstances of a particular case. The role follows recommendations linked to the implementation of the Cottier Report and introduces an additional oversight mechanism for results management decisions under the 2027 Code.
Candidates must be legal experts with extensive experience in anti-doping results management and a strong reputation for integrity and fairness.
Applications are open until 6 August 2026.
