WADA postpones Africa Regional Symposium amid regional uncertainty
The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) has postponed its 2026 Regional Symposium for Africa, originally scheduled for 28–29 April in Cairo, Egypt, citing the ongoing war in the Middle East and continued uncertainty in the region.
According to WADA, the decision was taken at the request of the local hosts — the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Egypt and the Egyptian Anti-Doping Organization. Alternative options are now under consideration, including a postponed in-person edition and possible virtual formats.
The postponement highlights the broader impact that regional instability can have on international anti-doping coordination and professional exchange.
